Why it matters: Lagos Life shows how browser-based games can create accessible ways for Nigerian audiences to engage with locally inspired interactive experiences. The game has now expanded into Abuja and Port Harcourt, giving players more Nigerian cities to explore and creating the foundation for a larger virtual world.
Lagos Life currently has more than 2.4 million total players, with 122,668 people online at the same time. It has recorded 3.8 million visits today and more than 22 million all-time visits. The game was inspired in part by The Sims 3 and Opeyemi Adeniran's Lagos Run.
The developer previously said Abuja Life and Port Harcourt Life were coming as part of plans to let players travel between different cities. Both cities are now live.
